Basic workshop at Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women, Clinton, NJ
» Submitted by Eleanor Novek on Sun, 10/07/2012 - 8:52pm.AVP-NJ will be holding a Basic workshop on the weekend of October 26-28, 2012 at Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women in Clinton, NJ.
Workshop hours: Friday 4-8:30 pm; Saturday: 8am - 7pm, Sunday: 8:45 am - 7 pm.
This is our first workshop here and outside participants are not yet able to join us. But other AVP facilitators who are interested in doing workshops at this site should contact me immediately.

Our gathering is an 
opportunity to meet and learn from facilitators and coordinators form across the state.
This year we will be gathering and organizing our historical materials. If you have old files, photos, newsletters etc... please bring them and your enthusiasm!!

We are at an important crossroads for AVP/New York. The reality is that many of the people who put their time, energy and money into building what was an AVP program at Green Haven into a vigorous state-wide organization have now passed away, and those who came after them are now aging and moving on with their lives. It is exciting that younger people are joining us, especially those who were incarcerated formerly, but the present economic reality keeps them from giving the total commitment of those who started AVP/New York.
