AVP / New York's 2009 Annual Gathering: Reaching Outside the Circle: Growing AVP in NYS

Long Point Camp on Seneca Lake, New York

October 9-11, 2009, Columbus Day Weekend (Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon)

Everyone in the AVP family is welcome!  AVP's annual gathering is a time to enjoy the company of other AVPers, reflect on our work, share resources and ideas and enjoy the natural beauty of the Finger Lakes Region together.  Long Point Camp is a Salvation Army camp (see www.longpointcamp.org) on one of the largest of the Finger Lakes in western New York with a variety of accommodations and meeting rooms.

Program highlights:

• New AVP exercises and light and livelies--please bring yours to share
• Introductions to new special topic workshops e.g. Restorative Justice--please bring yours to share
• Exploring our process for awarding AVP/NY scholarshiops for attendance at the AVP/USA Conference 
• Grant writing possibilities and socially responsible investments for AVP/NY
• Archive project: please bring AVP photos and momentos
• Exploring the offering of facilitator stipends vs. some expenses paid vs. all volunteer teams and eveything in between
• Re-entry--reaching outside the circle--engaging AVP people coming home
• News of AVP outside New York State

Schedule:

We will gather on Friday for registration 4-6pm, dinner and a community-building circle follow.  Saturday will be time for large group sessions, workshop sessions and committee meetings.  On Sunday, there will be time for worship/medidation together and AVP/NY's board council meeting (open to all).  We will close with lunch and clean-up.

Free-time coordinated activities may include:

Hiking the gorge at Watkins Glen, visiting local wineries or the Equal Rights Museum and National Park, or an afternoon at a local farmer's and craft market.
